h a t e,

one word,

four letters,

starts with an ‘h’,

ends with an ‘e’.

l o v e,

is also one word,

also four letters,

also ends with an ‘e’,

but begins with an ‘l’.

Love once filled my cup,

but it has gone,

revealing the cracks on the side.

Then,

you poured hate to cover those cracks.

Love is flip, hate is flop.

The two stand back to back,

but one follows where the other goes,

just as flip-flops.

h a t e,

you stretched your friendly arms,

your cold embracing hands yet felt so warm.

Don’t be scared, you said.

I fell asleep in your lullaby.

You rejoiced ,

hoping that I would never wake up.

In my dream,

a man come and we have a chat.

You can taste sweetness only if you have tasted bitterness.

You can only find love, if you have found hatred,

because love and hatred are flip and flop,

one only exists when the other also exists.
